Two new resources I want to share with everyone here, beyond those who will get them as personalized recommendations:
First, Exponential View's overview of the state and future of AI agents.
From ChatGPT to a billion agents: 2025 will be the year of agents. I think there's big opportunity to up-level our impact with technologies like this, and it's clear the extractive world will.
The article doesn't discuss this, but I've heard that more than 50% of the killing on the battlefields of Ukraine are now carried out by drones, and it's expected that will approach 100% soon. Similarly, a huge amount of the raw work done by leading extractive corporations will likely be performed by AI agents in the near future. Terribly analogy, but I suggest readers here carefully consider how to use some of those technologies for regenerative purposes. I'd love to discuss this with you.
Second, a key document in energy transition:
the Indigenous Summit Just Transition's Indigenous Peoples Principles and Protocols for Just Transition, put in context yesterday in a big piece in Mongabay: Just energy transition reports urge care in surge to reach global renewable energy goals
“This document defining the just energy transition and Indigenous peoples’ principles for a just transition is a first in history,” said Galina Angarova, executive director of the SIRGE Coalition, a global coalition led by a committee of Indigenous representatives that helped organize the Indigenous summit. “It will be used as a guide by Indigenous peoples’ rights advocates for years to come.”
The intersections of those two developments are very interesting to consider.

Can We Use AI Agents for Transformation to Sustainability?
(Full size) From Exponential View today. Explanation: "Today’s AI assistants, like ChatGPT, require constant human input—they’re co-pilots, not autonomous actors. The next evolution, already well underway, is of agents that execute tasks independently once given an objective, much like delegating to a seasoned team and stepping back while they handle the rest. And there is no limit to the size of this team."
So what will this team be deployed to do?
